Valerian Root - Nature's Valium

I've always been one to fall victim to anxious sleeps. It would take me from 30-45 minutes to finally crash and then I would find myself waking up 2-4 times throughout the night. ⁠I would wake up groggy but like most, push through it and say to myself I'd just get to bed earlier the next night... ⁠⁠


I've never really put my sleep health first. Until I found @stunncollective - Talking to Ash, the co founder of the beauty supplement company on the @manukasundaypodcast I noticed there was an major emphasis on sleep and how it effects our day to day life. ⁠⁠

So what's in this magical root??

With valerenic acid, isovaleric acid and a variety of antioxidants, the root has become known for a chemical response and messenger that helps regulate nerve impulses in your brain and nervous system. Resulting in calmness and enhancing sleep quality.

One study in adults with insomnia found that a single dose of valerian allowed them to achieve deep sleep 36% faster. Additionally, the time they spent in deep sleep increased during 14 days of taking valerian.

Valerian Root has also been found to help stress, depression, OCD and ADHD.

A great way to add valerian root into your nightly routine is in a tea. You can find it at your local health food store in a tea format or take it by the capsule. I've linked a few below if you're interested!
